I’m always on the hunt for new products, and despite my best efforts to read reviews and recommendations and to swatch, swatch swatch – I always seem to end up with a drawer full of make-up and beauty items, used twice, and abandoned out of sight (and out of mind). It’s pretty rare for me to love a product right to the very end.
I can usually force myself to finish off the products I broke the bank for – but it’s a different matter for what I find on the hightstreet/drugstore. These are the exception:
Sanctuary Youth Boosting Facial Night Concentrate: So I’m beginning with a bit of a cheat, because as you can see this product was an itty bitty travel size of the full product – but I love it. It really does help plump and soften your face, is not greasy at all and literally feels like liquid silk. I don’t care I’m cheating, I love it, and I’ll be purchasing the full size ASAP.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer: Everybody has tried, or at least heard about, the Healthy Mix foundation – but I always see the concealer lacking any attention. My deep, black under-eye circles and blemish-prone skin has led to a long career in picking up new concealers, and this one is without a doubt the best coverage high-street concealer. Like, ever. I found it helped disguise my red patches and left my under-eye circles greatly diminished, and looking much more awake. A real true love, and fairly affordable too! (Although not the cheapest on the highstreet)
L’Oreal Volume Millions Excess Mascara: Mascara is definitely something I’m still desperately trying to figure out. I have super straight, short eyelashes which love to face downwards – and I’ve found that when a brand says volume – it really means clumps. This mascara really does volumise , and lengthen, and does curl a little – although I always use my eyelash curlers anyway. I can apply as much as I want to get the look I desire, and it never clumps! This has been my everyday mascara since I got it, and I already have another tube bought.
Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush: Phew, long name. This is my definite favourite brow pencil, and although it only comes in two shades it’s luckily a very good match for my eyebrows. The nib is tiny, and fairly hard, which allows you to draw in each individual hair or you can very lightly shade in big gaps. This is said to be a good dupe for Anastasia Brow Wiz, although I have never tried it. I feel no need to, the Soap and Glory version seems to work perfectly, and I recently finished my second or third pencil.
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner: Honestly, this isn’t an eyeliner I would repurchase. Application wise, only the thick part of the nib seems to have any product – making it almost impossible to get a proper black thin line (I am not a thick eyeliner person), if that’s your thing though you would probably love it! To try and combat this, I swiped it down my hand to try and ‘push’ the liquid to the nib. And then I forget about it and realize I’ve been walking around with black tiger stripes on my hand, not cool. It is however, very black, and very long lasting, and for some reason I’m not quite sure of this is the liquid eyeliner I’ve been picking up over anything else.
Do you have any recommendations for very black, long lasting and thin-lined liquid eyeliners? In desperate need!
